Who is Robert Ray Black-Daley?

British celebrity family member Robert Ray Black-Daley was born under the zodiac sign Cancer on 27 June 2018, in Southwark, England. He’s probably only known for being a son of famous British Olympic diver Tom Daley and his husband Dustin Lance Black, an American screenwriter.

Robert’s being raised in Southwark alongside his younger brother, born in March 2023; both boys were born via surrogacy. Their parents married in a private ceremony on 6 May 2017 at Bovey Castle in Devon, South West England, and they today spend a lot of time with their children despite their busy schedules.

Tom and Dustin are keeping their sons away from media as they want them to be able to lead normal lives, however, they still occasionally feature them in their Instagram pictures and videos. Tom was raised in England alongside his brothers Ben and William, by their father Robert Daley who was 40 when he died from a brain tumor on 27 May 2011, and mother Debbie (nee Selvester). Tom fell in love with diving at an early age, and looked up to Canadian professional diver Alexandre Despatie while growing up; Alexandre was only 13 when he won gold at the 1998 Commonwealth Games.

Tom studied at Eggbuckland Community College prior to progressing to Plymouth College; he matriculated in 2012, and then chose not to pursue a college degree as he instead wanted to focus on diving.

Tom joined the Plymouth Diving Club at a very early age, and his talent quickly became apparent. At the age of 14, he became the youngest British competitor at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, competing in the individual 10-meter platform event and finishing an impressive seventh, gaining widespread attention for his skill and composure.

Tom continued to excel on the international stage, winning gold in the 10-meter platform at the 2009 FINA World Championships in Rome, Italy.

The 2012 London Olympics were an important moment for Tom; despite facing intense pressure and heightened expectations as a home favorite, he secured a bronze medal in the 10-meter platform event.

Tom continued to add to his medal collection at various international competitions; he consistently ranked among the top divers in the world, showcasing his skills in both individual and synchronized events. He competed in the 2016 Rio Olympics, winning a bronze medal in the synchronized 10-meter platform event alongside Daniel Goodfellow.

American screenwriter, producer and director Dustin Lance Black was born under the zodiac sign Gemini on 10 June 1974, in Sacramento County, California USA. He’s perhaps still known best for writing the 2008 biographical historical movie “Milk”, directed by Gus Van Sant, and which starred Sean Penn, Emile Hirsch and Josh Brolin. It follows the life of American gay activist Harvey Milk, who went on to become California’s first openly gay elected official, and the movie won 66 of its 201 award nominations, including two Oscar wins for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role (Sean Penn) and Best Writing, Original Screenplay for Dustin.

He was raised in California alongside his brothers Todd Bryant and Marcus Raul, solely by their mother Roseanna who was suffering from polio; the boys’ father Raul Garrison abandoned the family when Dustin was still very young. He was raised in the Mormon culture, and was worried about himself when he was seven and attracted to a boy; he studied at North Salinas High School, and upon matriculating in 1992 enrolled at University of California, Los Angeles’ School of Theatre, Film and Television, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in 1996.

One notable aspect of Dustin’s career is his foray into television. He lent his talents to the critically acclaimed HBO series “Big Love”, while he also co-created the ABC mini-series “When We Rise”, a project that delved into the history of the LGBTQ+ rights movement in the USA.

Beyond writing, Dustin’s ventured into producing and directing; his directorial debut came with the 2010 movie “Virginia”, which explored the intricacies of family dynamics in a small town. This marked a significant milestone in his career, as it was proven that he could succeed as both a screenwriter and director.

A distinguishing feature of Dustin’s career is his passionate advocacy for LGBTQ+ rights. Drawing from his personal experiences, including growing up in a Mormon household, he became a vocal and visible figure in the fight for equality; Dustin actively engages with various organizations and initiatives, using his popularity to address issues such as marriage equality and discrimination against the LGBTQ+ community.

A non-celebrity American man filed a lawsuit against Dustin in 2023, claiming that Dustin had assaulted him; the judge dismissed the charges not long afterwards due to ‘inconsistencies and weakness in evidence’.

Dustin’s highly active on Instagram and has shared over 1,000 pictures and videos, and is followed by close to 500,000 people on the network.
