What does Kiki May do for a Living? Her Age, Movies, Boyfriend

Kiki May

The name Kiki May doesn’t ring many bells – but “Ted Lasso” fans who saw season two will be more than familiar with the young actress, who played Hannah Waddingham’s on-screen goddaughter, Nora.

Although Kiki only appeared in two episodes of the popular series, she left a lasting impression on viewers, bringing some much-needed youthful enthusiasm to the show. Surprisingly, this was only Kiki’s second credited acting role, with her first project being a cameo in “The Electrical Life of Louis Wain”.

The industry newcomer was introduced to “Ted Lasso” audiences as the integral part of a subplot, which saw Hannah’s character, Rebecca, repair her relationship with her young goddaughter after neglecting her for years while trapped in an unhappy marriage.

At first, things were tense between Rebecca and Nora as the football team owner treated her goddaughter as if she were still a child. However, she soon realized that the best way to make Nora feel comfortable was by treating her normally, which meant taking her to work meetings and having her meet the players of the AFC Richmond football team.

As mentioned, Kiki’s character was subtly written out of the show after two episodes, in order to focus on the other plotlines, but yhe actress’s stellar performance led to her being cast as Nadia in “The Great”, an historical dramedy starring Elle Fanning and Phoebe Fox.

Kiki appeared in five episodes of the show, but was demoted from recurring cast member to guest star between seasons two and three. Although her character was still very much alive and may have made future appearances in the series, “The Great” was cancelled after three seasons due to lackluster ratings – meaning that Kiki’s fans will just have to wait and see what she does next.

Finding out what the actress is currently up to is easier said than done, as Kiki is notoriously private and doesn’t have any social media profiles that we’re aware of. Although online sources claim that the “Ted Lasso” starlet was born in London, UK, and celebrates her birthday on January 14th, her exact birthyear remains a mystery.

Due to Kiki’s striking and somewhat unusual features, netizens have previously posed the question of the actress having Down syndrome or fetal alcohol syndrome. However, there’s no evidence to back up the rumors.

Taking into account Kiki’s limited digital footprint, we’re also unable to share any details regarding her private life. The “Ted Lasso” actress is currently signed to the Lou Colson Associates talent agency.

Co-Stars

Just as Kiki’s role in “Ted Lasso” helped pave the way for more lucrative career opportunities, her co-star Hannah Waddingham went from a respectable but relatively unknown stage actress to an award-winning thespian, after playing Rebecca in all three seasons of the show.

Hannah was born in London in July 1974, and comes from a creative background, as her mother and both maternal grandparents were talented opera singers. When her mother Melodie joined the English National Opera in the early 1980s, the blonde became immersed in the world of theatre and would later graduate from the Academy of Live and Recorded Arts.

Hannah made her West End stage debut in 1998, in “Saucy Jack and the Space Vixens”, later appearing in “Lautrec” and “The Beautiful Game”. Sometime in the late 2000s, the Londoner was nominated for her first accolades, including an Olivier Award nod for her portrayal of the Lady of the Lake in “Spamalot”.

Hannah’s career is the definition of a slow burn, as she wouldn’t win her first substantial award for Best Supporting Actress in a Musical until 2010, when she played the Wicked Witch of the West in a West End production of “The Wizard of Oz”. From then on, many doors were opened for the thespian, and she made her screen debut in the BBC sitcom “Not Going Out”.

The actress’s dedication to her craft is certainly admirable, as just nine weeks after giving birth to her daughter, Hannah began filming her scenes as Septa Unella for season five of “Game of Thrones” – an experience that left her with lingering aquaphobia and claustrophobia.

A few years passed until Hannah’s next notable role, that of Rebecca Welton in “Ted Lasso”. The blonde’s critically-acclaimed performance led to her winning Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series at the Critics’ Choice Television Awards, as well as a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.

Moving on to the undoubted star of “Ted Lasso”, Jason Sudeikis began working on the concept behind the series way back in 2015. Apart from starring as the title character, the comedian and writer was one of the executive producers and had final say in many important creative decisions.

Jason was born in September 1975 in Virginia, USA, and began his career in improv comedy in his early 20s. After a few promising performances at a local comedy theatre, the aspiring celebrity moved to Chicago, where he perfected his craft and founded the long-form comedy team J.T.S. Brown.

Jason’s career trajectory changed forever when he was hired as a sketch writer for “Saturday Night Live” (“SNL” in 2003. Over the years, he went from bit appearances to one of the main comedy cast members on the show, and audiences left understandably heartbroken in July 2013 upon learning that he was leaving.

With that said, Jason’s departure from “SNL” wasn’t a permanent one, as he continued to make occasional appearances between 2015 and 2019. The actor’s jam-packed schedule made him unable to take on too many filming commitments, however, as “Ted Lasso” premiered in 2020 to rave reviews and was renewed almost immediately.

Apart from earning a Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild Award, and Primetime Emmy for his portrayal of the loveable football coach, Jason was nominated for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series at the latter awards ceremony. In 2021, the comedian was also named in Time’s annual list of the most influential people in the world, so it’s safe to say that “Ted Lasso” has been his most ambitious – and rewarding – project yet.
