Who is Fletcher Shears?

American singer, model and social media star Fletcher Shears was born under the zodiac sign Scorpio on 28 October 1993, in California USA. He’s perhaps only known for being a member of the experimental rock ‘n’ roll band The Garden, which was formed in 2011 by Fletcher and his twin brother Wyatt Shears; it took the boys four years to become popular, and they’ve toured all around the world since 2015, performing in countries such as England, Japan and Australia, amongst numerous others. The band performed at the popular Coachella festival in 2019 and 2023, and they’re currently working on releasing new music.

Education and early life

Fletcher and his twin brother were raised in California by their mother and father about whom the boys rarely speak in public as they respect their parents’ privacy; it’s widely believed that their father’s a saxophonist and their mother a retired professional dancer but this hasn’t been addressed by Fletcher and Wyatt.

Fletcher studied at a local high school and was 15 when he fell in love with music, and knew that he wanted to pursue a career as a singer; his initial plan was to pursue a college degree and only afterwards focus on music, however, the plan changed as the years went by. A couple of Fletcher’s other interests during his teenage years were appearing in school plays, running track and playing soccer.

He matriculated in 2012, a year after having formed The Garden, and Fletcher thus chose not to go after a college degree.

The Garden

Fletcher and Wyatt were already members of their band Ms. Hannah’s Victims (M. H. V.) when they founded The Garden as a side project, however, they became passionate about the project and thus quit M. H. V. to dedicate all of their time to The Garden; they chose the name as a reference to something that is always evolving and ‘growing’.

They went on to perform at local clubs and signed a contract with Burger Records; their debut extended play (EP) “The Garden” was released in May 2012 on cassette, and December saw the release of their second EP “Everything Is Perfect”. In July 2013, their debut album “The Life and Times of a Paperclip” came out, spawning popular single “I’m a Woman”. The boys’ third EP “Rules” was released in August 2013 and they went on to work on a couple of singles and EPs in 2014, with the most popular song amongst these having been “Cloak”.

They signed a contract with Epitaph Records in the first half of 2015 and released their new album “Haha” on 9 October 2015; they went on to release a couple of singles, including “California Here We Go”, “Call This # Now” and “Play Your Cards Right”, and their new EP “U Want the Scoop?” followed in March 2017.

They spent September 2017 touring around the USA as an opening act for famous Canadian singer-songwriter MacBriare Samuel Lanyon DeMarco.

Their new music video “No Destination” was released under Epitaph Records on 24 January 2018, and another music video “Stallion” followed on 27 February, which also served as the announcement of their new album “Mirror Might Steal Your Charm”; its lead single “Call The Dogs Out” was released on 27 March, while the album followed three days later. Later on in 2018, The Garden performed at the ARTE concert.

The boys revealed on 16 January 2020 that they were working on their new album “Kiss My Super Bowl Ring”, which came out on 13 March 2020; it’s lead single “Clench to Stay Awake” became quite popular and was co-produced by James Bulled of Kero Kero Bonito and Dylan Brady of 100 Gecs.

In 2022, The Garden released three new singles “Chainsaw the Door”, “Orange County Punk Rock Legend” and “Freight Yard”, and these were featured on their fourth album “Horseshit”, released on 8 September 2022.

The Garden’s self-titled YouTube channel today numbers over 70,000 subscribers, while only eight videos have been posted onto it; all of these together number more than 10.5 million views.

Girlfriend and love life

Fletcher can rarely be heard talking about his love life in public but has revealed that he’s today in a relationship with a non-celebrity Danish girl whom he met during one of his band’s performances.

He’s yet to reveal the girl’s name and profession, but it’s known that he stays at her house whenever he travels to Denmark to see her; most of Fletcher’s fans believe that she’s a nurse but this hasn’t been confirmed by the popular singer.

There are also those who claim that Fletcher and the mysterious girl have recently become engaged and are set to exchange vows in 2024, but this hasn’t been confirmed either.

Fletcher’s in a relationship with a non-celebrity Danish girl as of December 2023, hasn’t married and doesn’t have children.

Fletcher and his brother enjoy painting their faces while performing; they usually use white face paint and black lipstick.
