Paul was raised in the US by his father Lee James Qualley and mother Patricia Ann Rondou; little is known about his parents, as he respects their privacy, but it’s believed that his father was a businessman, and that his mother was a housewife. Because Paul hasn’t spoken of having any siblings, most of his fans believe him to be an only child.

Paul met Andie MacDowell in the early ‘80s, when they appeared in a commercial together. It was mutual attraction at first sight for them, and they were together for several years prior to exchanging vows in 1986, in a large ceremony attended by many of their friends and family members.
In the same year, a couple of months after the wedding, Andie gave birth to their son Justin, and their daughter Rainey Qualley followed in 1990; Andie gave birth to their second daughter Sarah Margaret in 1994, but Paul and Andie divorced in 1999 for unknown reasons – Andie was granted custody over their children.

She’s appeared in close to 100 movies and TV series, while she’s perhaps still known best for her portrayal of the main character Rita in the evergreen 1993 fantasy comedy movie “Groundhog Day”. It was written and directed by Harold Ramis, also starred Bill Murray and Chris Elliott, and follows a weatherman who’s reliving the same day over and over again, until he manages to win the heart of the woman he has fallen in love with; the movie won eight awards, including a BAFTA, while it was nominated for 17 other awards.
Andie was raised in Gaffney alongside her sister Beverly, by their father Marion St. Pierre MacDowell who was a lumber executive, and their mother Pauline ‘Paula’ Johnston (nee Oswald) who was a music teacher.
Paula was an alcoholic – she and Marion divorced when Andie was six, two years later Marion married Mary Frances Stone, while Paula died aged 53, a year after she had stopped drinking.
