About Black Mafia Family
Demetrius Edward ‘Big Meech’ Flenory was born in Detroit, Michigan USA, on 21 June 1968 – his zodiac sign is Cancer, and he holds American nationality. Big Meech’s brother – Terry P. O. Lee ‘Southwest T’ Flenory – was born a year and a half later.
The boys were still attending a local high school when they began selling bags of cocaine in the streets, for $50 each.
In 1985 they founded the Black Mafia Family, and in the following 15 years, the two men established a cocaine distribution network in more than 10 US states, and apparently had more than 500 people working for them. Something happened between the two in 2003, which led Terry to move to Los Angeles and run his own crime organization, and the brothers have rarely spoken since them.
They had also established their promotion agency and hip hop record label BMF Entertainment, and worked with various popular rappers, such as Jay-Z, Shawty Lo and Diddy, however, the agency was mostly used for money laundering.
The police had been monitoring the brothers since the early ‘90s, but their main investigation, ‘Operation Motor City Mafia’, began on 28 October 2003.
On 11 April 2004, they caught one of their main distributors Jabari Hayes with close to 100kg of cocaine on him, and then in September the drug dealer Decarlo Hoskins, who told them that he was working with the two brothers. On 8 June 2005, an unknown person told the police everything he knew about BMF, also naming the brothers.
More than 30 BMF members were arrested in October 2005, and Big Meech and his brother have both since been in prison. An additional 16 members were arrested on 15 June 2006, and 16 others on 26 July 2007. The final arrest was made on 17 July 2009, when the police caught Vernon Marcus Coleman, making the total number of BMF people arrested 150.
