Who is Mike Fisher?
Born Michael Andrew Fisher on the 5th June 1980, in Peterborough, Ontario Canada, he is a retired hockey centre who last played for the Nashville Predators, before announcing his retirement on the 12th May 2018. Drafted by the Ottawa Senators in 1998, Mike spent 20 years in the league, but failed to make an impact on the game, and though played in the Stanley Cup Finals, he and his team lost the series.

Mike is the son of Jim and Karen Fisher, and spent his childhood in his hometown with brothers Rob and Gregory, and sister Meredith. His brother Gregory became a successful sportsmen as well, a hockey goaltender for Quinnipiac University. From an early age, Mike started playing hockey, becoming involved with the Peterborough Minor Hockey Association (OMHA), before being drafted by the Sudbury Wolves as the 22nd overall pick in the 1997 OHL Priority Draft. He played only one season for the Wolves, during which he made his mark with 49 points in 66 games, which was enough for him to be drafted in the second round by the Ottawa Senators, 44th overall in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft. He decided not to join the Senators at first, but instead returned for one more year with the Wolves, during which he doubled his stats, as he had 106 points in 66 games.
Mike made his professional debut in the 1999-2000 season, but played in only 32 games as injuries made him unavailable for the Senators most of the season; he still had nine points and became popular for his aggressive style of play. He picked up where he left off, playing aggressively which brought him 18 goals and 38 points overall for the 2002-2003 season. He remained with the Senators until the 2010-2011 season, though he spent a season in Switzerland, playing for the EV Zug of the National League A during the 2004-2005 season lockout in the NHL.
In February 2011, Mike was sent to the Nashville Predators for a first round pick and a conditional pick in 2012. He made his debut for the Predators on the 12th February 2011 and helped his team beat the Colorado Avalanche 5-3 with an assist, then scored his first goal for the Predators against the Vancouver Canucks. His best season for the Predators was in 2011-2012, during which he had 24 goals and 27 assists for a total of 51 points. He came close to this achievement in the 2013-2014 season, during which he scored 20 goals and added 29 assists. From then his performance began to decline, and he started having problems with injuries, which resulted in his retirement in August 2017. He returned six months later, but in May 2018 he retired once again.
