Katy Tur Wiki: Early Life, Parents, and Education
Of Jewish ancestry and the only daughter of the famous journalist Robert Albert Tur – who changed his gender and is now known as Zoey Tur – and his ex-wife Marika Gerrard, Katy has a brother James. Katy went to Brentwood School from which she matriculated in 2001, after which she enrolled at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and four years later graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in philosophy.
Upon graduation, Katy joined KTLA Channel, but then over the years moved from station to station. She started building a name for herself by working for such stations as News 12 Brooklyn, Fox 5 New York, and for a brief time was also a storm chaser for The Weather Channel as a part of the VORTEX2 team.
Rise to Prominence
Thanks to her ability and hard work, Katy was recruited by WNBC-TV, which is an NBC affiliate in New York City. She remained at the station for the next three years, before she ultimately moved to NBC News, where her first assignment was the death of Corey Monteith, then a motorcycle attack on an SUV, followed by the search for Malaysia Airlines flight MH-370. Her role within NBC News rose, and she was appointed as a correspondent, and began contributing to such shows as “Weekend Today” (2012-2016), “NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt” (2012-2017), actually reaching stardom in 2016, when she was named as the embedded reporter for the Donald Trump presidential campaign. She nagged Trump with questions about the Access Hollywood tape that was in NBC’s possession, on which can be found a controversial conversation between Trump and Billy Bush on the topic of women. Because of her devotion to duty, Katy was often booed by Trump supporters, and Trump lambasted her in his media interviews. Nevertheless, this brought Katy’s popularity to the next level, and she used her newfound fame to publish the book “Unbelievable: My Front-Row Seat to the Craziest Campaign in American History”.
