How Stephanie’s growing years shaped her

Stephanie Abrams was born in Wellington, Florida USA, on 27 October 1978. Her parents divorced when she was young and she was raised in West Palm Beach, primarily by her father, Barry Abrams, a physician who loved science and telescopy. He would take her and her sister on exploratory and educational trips from observing Halley’s Comet, to visiting Yellowstone National Park, and to Europe and Hawaii to observe moon eclipses. Young Stephanie enjoyed participating in the US Space Camp and carries fond memories of those times. As a teenager, she was intrigued by the devastation she witnessed caused by Hurricane Andrew, and this inspired her to study storms and natural calamities.

What does Stephanie Abrams do for fun?

Can you believe this graceful, poised woman was a tomboy and played baseball? To this day, she still loves college sports and football, and apart from Florida State, is still a Michigan supporter. Stephanie is a lover of outdoor activities such as playing tennis, running and camping, and is an avid traveler whenever she has an opportunity. Yet she appreciates a good book or movie, is dedicated to constantly learning, and listens to a wide range of music genres from different eras. Furthermore, she derives pleasure from a dose of theatre now and again.

Stephanie Abrams’ education

With her background, it’s no wonder that Stephanie grew up loving math and science. Although she was accepted by Michigan University, Stephanie chose warmer climes and headed to Florida. She decided it was not an option to go back home, but a case of “sink or swim” so she was determined to succeed. Originally Stephanie wanted to be an astronomer or work for NASA, however after a basic meteorology class at University of Florida, she realized her interests lay in understanding weird weather patterns. She found math, physics and science extremely difficult, and although she didn’t consider herself to be smart and always asked a million questions, she enjoyed the class. Stephanie achieved a bachelor’s degree in geography, a minor in mathematics and graduated with honors, as well as having being elected to Phi Beta Kappa. As the University of Florida did not provide a meteorology program, she went to Florida State University where she graduated cum laude with a BS degree in meteorology. It was at Florida State that all the meteorology students ran “FSU Live” and practiced on-air news and weather forecasts. Stephanie’s infectious character proved her a natural talent for on-air reporting.

How Stephanie’s career unfolded

Stephanie briefly worked at FSU as a Teaching Assistant in Meteorology. She sent out her tape to a list of people to critique – as she says, to achieve your dreams “you have to hustle”. She got a job as a meteorologist at WTXL-TV in Tallahassee by a stroke of luck, as the morning guy was arrested for writing a bad check. She kicked off as a reporter with The Weather Channel in July 2003. In 2004 and 2005 she made a name for herself through her live coverage of the storms and hurricanes criss-crossing Florida. Later she was promoted to a show called “Weekend View”, then in 2006 she became an on-camera meteorologist on “Abrams and Bettes: Beyond the Forecast”, a humorous, whacky show co-hosted with her former husband, Mike Bettes. From 2009 to 2015 Stephanie hosted the foremost television series “Weather Proof”, providing valuable information and survival advice for how people could protect themselves in potentially destructive weather circumstances such as fires, floods, tornadoes etc.

Stephanie’s career has flourished and she has been involved in numerous meteorological shows such as “Wake Up With Al”, “Weekend Today”, “On the Radar” and “Morning Rush” until her final position at AMHQ.

Let’s talk figures

Stephanie’s greatest delight is to be on the beach, and this leggy stunner, at a height of 5ft 8ins (1.72m.), certainly stands out! Not only is she remarkably attractive with a 37-27-35 inch model-perfect figure weighing in at 135lbs (61kgs), Stephanie has just the right combination of beauty and brains. To top it off, she is a natural with no artificial nips and tucks, certainly something worth flaunting these days!!

Now for the financial figures: from a weather girl starting off at an annual salary of $19,500, her dedication and hard work has paid off and she is now a top earner taking home a minimum of $175,000 in salary. Her net worth is estimated by authoritative sources to be about a cool $7 million, as of late 2018, likely to climb higher assuming her career continues in the same vein. She is involved in and has contributed to various charities.

A peek into Stephanie Abrams’ personal life

Stephanie and Mike Bettes were married in 2000, but apparently separated some time before actually divorcing in 2009. She has always kept her personal life relatively private, and there has been much speculation about whether she has a new boyfriend or will re-marry, especially since she posted pictures of herself wearing an engagement ring, with her partner, on Instagram in February 2017. But that’s as far as it goes, she’s not sharing his name, and to date no-one’s any the wiser.

On social media

Although Stephanie is active and responsive on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat etc., she has mixed feelings about social media, and doesn’t take it too seriously. She is unfazed by criticism and is of the opinion that no-one can upset you unless you don’t have self-worth, and don’t believe in yourself, and when people act nasty they’re in pain themselves. A happy person cannot be nasty.

And to finish off – what is Stephanie Abrams’ philosophy?

Stephanie grew up watching Oprah and wondered why she was so popular, until she realized Oprah’s success was due to the fact that she was authentic. For this reason, Stephanie’s aim is to always be true to herself. Her vivacious personality wins people’s hearts as her passion is tangible and she feels things deeply. Stephanie would like to inspire people to be aware and to put in some work to quieten their negative self-talk. She personally certainly works as hard on herself as on anything else she tackles.  This weathercaster is highly energy-driven and states “there is no shame in your game” believing one should never give up if you want something. Some of her popularity can be attributed to the fact that she keeps her reporting light-hearted and easy to understand. For example, she often uses the analogy of the atmosphere being a hamburger where different patterns are stacked upon each other. Stephanie Abrams’ 20-year goal is to be healthy and happy, and in her words, “Life is about bettering yourself and that is true success in life.” With her wisdom and her charm, we can expect to see Stephanie Abrams continuing to climb higher in her career.
