Stuart grew up in his hometown, where he finished secondary school. Following his matriculation, he went to Nairobi, Kenya where he spent a year, before returning to England and enrolling at the London School of Economics. However, as just three years later, he joined Fox News as a part of their business team.

As his role at the station grew, Stuart was given more credit, and in 2006 he became an anchor on the Fox Business Network when it launched, joining other notable television hosts including David Asman, Cheryl Casone, Dagen McDowell and Maria Bartiromo, among others. His first on-screen appearance was in the show “Fox and Friends” in 2006, and then “Hannity” in 2009. Until 2014 he would often guest host the show, and contribute with his insight and analyses, after which he focused on his own “Stuart Varney & Company”, which airs on Fox Business Network from 9:00 a.m. to 12 p.m. every weekday.
