Stuart Varney Bio: Early Life, and Education

Stuart grew up in his hometown, where he finished secondary school. Following his matriculation, he went to Nairobi, Kenya where he spent a year, before returning to England and enrolling at the London School of Economics. After graduation, he moved to the USA, initially to Westport, Connecticut and soon began pursuing a career as a journalist.

Career Beginnings

Stuart’s first job was as a broadcast journalist at KEMO-TV, headquartered in San Francisco. Then in 1980 he was recruited by CNN, with which he remained until 2001, during which time he hosted such shows as “Business Day”, “Moneyline” with Willow Bay, and “Business Asia”, among other shows. Thanks to his skills, Stuart’s name became more popular, and in 2001 he was ‘head-hunted’ by CNBC, and fronted his own show – “Wall Street Journal Editorial Board with Stuart Varney”. However, as just three years later, he joined Fox News as a part of their business team.

Rise to Prominence

As his role at the station grew, Stuart was given more credit, and in 2006 he became an anchor on the Fox Business Network when it launched, joining other notable television hosts including David Asman, Cheryl Casone, Dagen McDowell and Maria Bartiromo, among others. His first on-screen appearance was in the show “Fox and Friends” in 2006, and then “Hannity” in 2009. Until 2014 he would often guest host the show, and contribute with his insight and analyses, after which he focused on his own “Stuart Varney & Company”, which airs on Fox Business Network from 9:00 a.m. to 12 p.m. every weekday.
