Who is Oscar Ortiz?

Retired Argentine professional soccer player Oscar Ortiz was born under the zodiac sign Aries on 8 April 1953, in Chacabuco, Buenos Aires, Argentina. Education and early life

Oscar was raised in Buenos Aires by his parents whose privacy he respects and thus doesn’t speak about in public; it’s widely believed that his father was a soccer coach and his mother a housewife but this hasn’t been addressed by Oscar. He also hasn’t talked about having siblings, but some of Oscar’s fans claim that he was raised alongside his older brother, who spent his career in the entertainment industry.

Oscar fell in love with soccer while still attending a local elementary school; he and his neighborhood friends formed a team, and often played against other children, winning the vast majority of their games. Oscar launched his career when he joined Club Atletico San Lorenzo de Almagro; he made his debut with them in 1971, when they won 2-1 against the Newell’s Old Boys. Oscar had a stunning youth career, as with San Lorenzo he won three league titles: M1972, N1972 and N1974.

He was traded to the Brazilian club Gremio in 1976, however, Oscar spent most of his time at Gremio injured, which led to him being returned to Argentina, traded to River Plate. Oscar was successful while at River Plate as they won the 1977 Metropolitano Championship, and the following year saw him selected to play for Argentina in the World Cup; they defeated the Netherlands 3-1 in the final, with Oscar helping the national team win their first World Cup at the River Plate’s home stadium Estadio Monumental.

Oscar and the River Plate then won three league titles: M1979, N1979 and M1980, which was the second time in River Plate’s history that they achieved three league title wins in a row. After a remarkable time with the team, Oscar was traded to Club Atletico Huracan in 1981; his performance declined over time, and he was then traded to the Club Atletico Independiente.

With Independiente, Oscar won a 1983 Metropolitano Championship, his final trophy, as he retired from professional soccer not long afterwards.

During an interview, Oscar revealed that his aim was never to score goals but to rather unbalance defenses and make way for others to score.
