Early life

Megan Rose Eugenio was born on 17 October 1999, in Massachusetts USA. Her parents are Mark J. and Michelle Eugenio (née Joyal). Megan grew up in Peabody, Massachusetts, with three siblings: Mark, Joshua Mark, and Amanda Rose. Amanda is 11 years her senior, and Mark passed away on 21 August 2006 following a battle with a mysterious illness, according to his obituary on Legacy.com. He was buried at St. John’s Church in Peabody, and his family started a Mark Joshua Eugenio Memorial Scholarship Fund afterwards. Megan’s maternal grandparents were Donald and Helen Joyal, and she has one aunt, Lisa Ames; four uncles, Donald, David, John, and Paul; and nearly a dozen cousins, some being Colin, Matthew, Derek, and Alyssa.

As a kid, Megan thought that in adulthood she would do something related to karate, one of martial arts. However, she later chose ‘glam over slam and went into all-star cheer.’ Megan had a dog named Nike from when she was 13, but he died in 2018. Megan described herself as ‘ugly and cringy, a pick-me girl’ when she was young. She also admitted that her appearance worsened when she started wearing braces at 14 or 15.

Megan matriculated from Bishop Fenwick High School, a Catholic educational institution in Peabody. She said that she never felt satisfied in her hometown, and wanted to leave as soon as possible, so moved to New York City in mid-2018 to attend Pace University, which she graduated from in May 2023. During her early education, Megan mostly ate alone in the library, where eating was forbidden. She wanted to avoid people, as she was bullied and felt like an outcast. Moreover, Megan wanted to focus on reaching her goals and standing out. She chewed gum in church, attended beauty pageants, and talked about becoming famous without being mean or selling her soul, all activities that people in her small hometown criticized.

Career

In October 2018, Megan began working for Overtime, a sports media network targeting Generation Z, a group born between the late 1990s and the early 2010s. Megan initially met with a friend who worked for Overtime, and because she didn’t know what to do while studying, she asked the friend if their company would hire her, even if only to prepare coffee. Instead, Megan began promoting basketball and football, her favorite sports, on social media by reporting on games and interviewing athletes. Overtime quickly grew to include soccer and boxing, and started a professional high school basketball league, Overtime Elite, in 2021. The company signed a contract with the National Football League (NFL) in November 2023; that provided its employees with backstage access and content creation permits at events such as Draft, Combine and Super Bowl. Megan attended those events, and is expected to continue in 2024.

TikTok

Megan started gaining popularity on her TikTok account in August 2019, 150,000 followers in one month, thanks to Overtime’s guidance and branding. She quickly found her niche when her followers positively responded to montages and commentary about things involving football and basketball. Over time, Megan reported on major National Hockey League (NHL) events, possibly because she dated one of its prospects.

Megan also used TikTok to reveal some interesting facts, such as that she likes a crispy ginger ale and the rapper Jack Harlow. Additionally, Megan said that she would eat sushi daily, but knows the consequences of frequent fish consumption, including overdosing on mercury. Consequently, she switched to sushi with cucumber and avocado, and only eats fish-based sushi on special occasions.

Instagram

Megan is also active on her Instagram account, overtimemegan, on which she’s amassed over 600,000 followers, primarily using it to promote the National Basketball Association (NBA), NHL, and NFL games, and post behind-the-scenes footage with players. However, she occasionally posted photos from her trips, activities such as jet skiing, rare modeling shots, and pictures with people outside the sports industry. For instance, she met Buddy Valastro and his son, Buddy Valastro Jr., both best known for starring in the TV cooking series “Cake Boss.” Megan also attracted attention in early January 2023, by sharing behind-the-scenes photos of the 2022 NBA Champions, the Golden State Warriors visiting the White House. That signified that she earned Overtime’s trust; attending was undoubtedly a privilege.

Podcast

On 8 December 2021, Megan launched her Fresh Daily Meggs podcast, citing frequent questions about her life as the reason, and adding that she wanted to interview athletes and talk about her undying love for basketball. Overtime sponsored the podcast, and she released 18 episodes through June 2022.

The most insightful podcast episode was her list of 10 rules for life; Megan shared that she gets anxious about social media, and that her life is imperfect. She admitted to sometimes dressing up and putting on makeup for a picture or video of her having fun, only to stay home and watch TV. Phone hack

Megan had over two million followers when an unidentified hacker leaked explicit images and videos of her online in mid-April 2023. A TikTok user, Noah Glenn Carter, claimed that a hacker stole data from her phone. Megan initially refrained from verifying that she was in them, but on 27 April, announced that she would delete her TikTok account and take a break, subtly confirming the incident. Moreover, Megan or the X (formerly Twitter) online platform tagged her account, @overtimemegan, on which she had over 150,000 followers, as private and potentially containing sensitive content. That forced users to verify their age to see her posts and negatively affected her career, as the platform allowed her to make short posts in real time.

On 2 May, Megan posted a TikTok video captioned, ‘again thank you for all those who supported me, i love you all ♥’ In it, she confirmed that a hacker downloaded the contents of her phone, then distributed them online, insinuating that they might have earned money from it. Megan reminded her followers that the leak was a crime, and that the content was for her eyes only. She addressed the hacker, reminding them that she had family, colleagues, and friends who were affected. Megan confidently stated that the act did not break her spirit, and vowed to continue doing what she loved.

Her return

Megan let the controversy blow over, posted infrequently for a few months, and resurfaced on social media in October 2023. She started going by Megan Patricia, and posted pictures and videos from her trip to Toronto, Canada, and hangouts with the YouTuber group NELK.

Sadly, on 8 October, Megan reported that she had to go to the emergency room (ER) because she accidentally digested glass shards from a broken glass. She assured her followers that she was fine, and had only waited an hour and a half to be admitted. Megan was lucky because sharp objects can slice or puncture parts of the throat and gastrointestinal (GI) tract and might require one or more surgical operations depending on the size, sharpness, and shape. On 11 November, Megan attended the UFC 295 event at Madison Square Garden, New York City, with NELK.

Rumored boyfriend, Josh Giddey

In April 2023, rumors circulated that Megan had a fling with professional basketball player Josh Giddey, who plays for Oklahoma City Thunder (OKC) in the NBA. The New York Post reported that the pair spent time together during the NBA All-Star Weekend in February in Salt Lake City, Utah. However, that didn’t indicate a romantic relationship, as Josh played in the Jordan Rising Star Game, while Megan watched as a hockey fan.

What suggested that the two started a romantic relationship was that Megan abruptly deleted a reply to a fan’s question via X, in which she denied dating Josh. Furthermore, on 13 April Megan wrote via X, ’31!!!!! Alleged fling with Antonio Brown

In July 2022, a picture surfaced online showing the former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown and an unknown woman in his bed. Its origin was seemingly Antonio’s accidental post on the Snapchat social media network, but the woman couldn’t be identified because she was covering her face. That prompted an online search for her identity, which landed on the Brazilian model Gisele Bündchen and Megan. While she resembled the woman in the image, Megan denied that it was her, according to TMZ.

Rumored boyfriend, Cole Schwindt

Around the time of the Antonio controversy, Megan reportedly dated a prospective NHL player, Cole Schwindt, who played forward for the Calgary Wranglers. They collaborated on creating TikTok videos, seemed close in Instagram photos, and she supported him in person at some games.

It’s unclear when their relationship began, but they posted about each other frequently in 2022 and early 2023. However, they deleted all mentions of each other after Megan’s phone hacking incident. Some people assume that the reason was the leaked sex tape in which Cole allegedly participated.
