Griffin Santopietro is an American TV and film actor, who is perhaps best known for his appearance in the TV series “Kobra Kai.”
Age, Early Life, and Education Background
Griffin Santopietro hails from Portland, Maine, and was born under the Capricorn zodiac sign on 5 January 2006, which makes him 17 years old as of 2023. He’s the son of Kathy and John Santopietro, and is of British and Irish ancestry. Griffin spent most of his childhood in Connecticut, where he was brought up alongside his two brothers – his older brother is the musician, Max Santopietro.
Griffin attended Charlotte Preparatory School, and honed his acting skills at the prestigious Stella Adler Studio of Acting and previously stated on social media, ‘Being stuck in my house for a while has been tough (because of the Covid-19 lockdown), so I’m so glad that I am a part of Stella Adler Studio teen summer conservatory intensive – at a time like this, it’s so important to be surrounded by talented people. I’m so grateful I get to do this.’ Griffin hasn’t disclosed where he attends high school.
Hobbies and Interesting Facts
Santopietro is a big fan of comic books and his favorite Marvel comic book character is Spiderman. He’s also a big fan of superhero and martial arts films – speaking with NYC Castings during an interview, he disclosed that his favorite childhood film series was “Karate Kid.”
He loves attending celebrity events and film premieres, and was spotted at “The Batman” film premiere.
Griffin appeared in his first TV series with a broken tooth – broken a few days before the filming in a fight with one of his brothers.
The “Cobra Kai” actor is an avid animal lover who owns a pet dog – he’s fond of flaunting his pet on his Instagram account.

Griffin is very physically active, and has taken Karate lessons; his skills came in handy on the set of “Cobra Kai.”

Career – TV Shows and Films
Griffin grew up very interested in acting, and began performing in local and school theaters when he was a child. He participated in the countrywide talent search, ‘Talent Inc.’ which took place in Florida and he ended up scooping the award of Best Overall Child Actor, which marked the beginning of his acting career. In 2016, Griffin portrayed Scott Branter in two episodes of the Investigation Discovery documentary “Homicide Hunter,” which was narrated by Josh Casaubon. In 2018, he shared the screen with the likes of Adam Sandler and Chris Rock in the 2018 Netflix comedy film “The Week Of,” which follows two dads with opposing personalities as they come together to witness the union of their children. 2018 also saw Griffin play Tommy in “The Rack Pack” which was followed by a one-episode appearance in the Netflix sitcom “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.”
In 2018, Griffin landed his career-defining role as Anthony LaRusso in “Cobra Kai.” Unlike his sister, Samantha LaRusso, Anthony grows up a spoilt rich kid, who is hooked on video games, electronics, and social media and has no interest in karate training. Trying to fit in with his peers in middle school, he becomes a patronizing bully – he bullies a younger boy named Kenny, prompting him to start training with Cobra Kai to defend himself – but later turns his life around and joins Miyagi-Do Karate to defend himself from Cobra Kai students, most of whom he used to bully. The first, second, and third seasons of the show aired on YouTube Red, YouTube Premium, and Netflix respectively. Griffin appeared in 26 episodes (2018-2023) and shared the screen with Ralph Macchio, Xolo Mariduena, William Zabka and Tanner Buchanan.
In the late 2010s and early 2020s, Griffin appeared in single episodes of a few TV series including “Bull” (2019) and “New Amsterdam” (2021). In 2022, he appeared in the film “I’m Not Gay” and the slasher movie “Terrifier 2.” 2023 saw Griffin star as Carey in “I’m Not Gay: A Musical”, sharing the screen with Sydney James Harcourt, Alan Mingo Jr. and Adrienne Walker.

Griffin appeared in an episode of the talk show “Popternative” in 2021. In the year that followed, he was invited to appear in an episode of the podcast, “The Man Cave Chronicles Podcast” and in an episode of the talk show “Netflix Geeked.” In 2022 and 2023, Griffin partnered with Luke Bickerton to present the British reality series “I’m a LA…Get Me Out of Here?” which follows the survival journey of 12 celebrities, who are abandoned in the English/Australian jungle. To earn food and water, the celebrities are forced to perform the mentally and physically challenging Bushtucker Trials. Griffin has presented 28 episodes.
