Kelsey Kreppel is a 30-year-old American social media personality and podcast host, but is possibly best known for being the wife of Cody Ko, a Canadian social media personality, rapper, and podcast host, and creating the “Circle Time” podcast.

Early life

Kelsey was born on 24 September 1993, in Los Angeles, California USA. She grew up in the West Walley region of California, and usually told people that she was from the area around Calabasas, California. Kelsey had one cat and three dogs: Jake, Ted, and Max. Ted died in September 2018. She also played tee ball as a kid.

Kelsey’s mother, Laureen Lang, is a teacher, while her father, Neil Louis Kreppel, is a talent agency owner. Her mom moved to California at 10 and was raised as a Catholic. Her dad relocated to the state in his early 30s, and comes from a Jewish family.

Early education

Kelsey had a hunchback posture in school, resulting from carrying too many books in her backpack. Her brother was embarrassed by that, and begged her to start storing her books in her school locker. Kelsey describes herself during that period as ‘a cute, pick-me girl who sometimes regrets that she didn’t date any of her brother’s friends because she was one of the boys.’ In her podcast’s “My Dad, The Detective” episode, Kelsey said that her father intimidated the boys in her school who might have been romantically interested in her, by researching who they were.

Kelsey attended California State University, Northridge (CSUN), in the Northridge neighborhood of Los Angeles, and stated in her “Zany Q&A!!!” video that she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in child and adolescent development.

Husband Cody Ko

On 15 September 2017, about three months after they met at a friend’s party, Kelsey started dating Cody Michael “Cody Ko” Kolodziejzyk. Cody was born on 22 November 1990 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and was best known for his YouTube channel, @CodyKo, with over 6.2 million subscribers. Cody introduced her to his audience in the 39th episode of his podcast, “Insanely Chill,” five days after they became a couple. Kelsey and Cody moved to Marina del Rey, California, in 2018, and Kelsey subsequently began starring in videos on Cody’s YouTube channel.

According to Malibu Times, the couple relocated to the Venice neighborhood of Los Angeles in 2020, then to a $3.6 million home in Malibu, California, in the winter of 2021. In December 2021, Kelsey and Cody became engaged, then married in Indian Wells, California, on 4 February 2023, then spent their honeymoon at the Amanyara Resort on the Turks and Caicos Islands.

Kelsey and Cody announced her pregnancy on 7 August 2023, with an Instagram post on his profile. It contained pictures of the sonogram and them with fake ‘Mom’ and ‘Dad’ tattoos on their shoulders, and videos of them revealing the news to their parents.

Cody told People magazine in November that he suspected something was up in May when Kelsey kept inquiring about when he would get home from work. She broke the news during dinner that night, one day before they were supposed to fly to Australia for the Ironman race in which Cody was scheduled to compete. Kelsey revealed that she felt tired for a while and took the pregnancy test on a hunch, seeking to eliminate one source of fatigue, not because her period was late.

At that point, Cody and Kelsey decided to discuss parenthood, but not to post pictures and videos of their child until they can choose whether they want their life documented online. On 21 January 2024, Cody and Kelsey announced in an Instagram post that their son, Otis, was born the week before.

Career

Kelsey created her YouTube channel, @KelseyKreppel2, in December 2014 but started uploading precisely three years later and eventually amassed over 1.05 million subscribers. In her first video, she told her subscribers that she plans to film makeovers and lifestyle videos with a sarcastic note and recreate some trends. Her channel had 100,000 subscribers by 24 June 2018, and Kelsey started filming more “Girl Talk” videos about various girl-related issues, and “Dinner with Kelsey” vlogs about her talents in the kitchen.

In 2020, she established a video format that she called ‘Fashion Review with Kelsey.’ She involved Cody in such videos, and the couple rated celebrity outfits at fashion and red-carpet events such as the Golden Globe Awards, Grammy Awards, and Oscars. On 18 August 2022, Kelsey released the first episode of her “Circle Time” podcast, which Dear Media company produced. She used her background in education to design the studio and structure the interviews, which revolved around pop culture, news, and guests’ life stories. Kelsey also added a unique twist, giving viewers and listeners weekly journal prompts and motivating them to reflect on their lives on topics ranging from personal growth to pondering their favorite things.

Within about two months she had guests, the earliest being Devon and Sydney Carlson, Ali Kolbert and Taylor King. Once she established a following, Kelsey invited professionals including dating coaches, beauticians, and financial advisors, who offered their expertise, and answered viewers’ questions posed via voicemails.
