Who is Philip Daniel Bolden?

American actor Philip Daniel Bolden was born under the zodiac sign Pisces on 19 March 1995, in New Orleans, Louisiana USA. He has 24 acting credits, and is perhaps still known best for playing Kevin Kingston in the 2005 family adventure comedy movie “Are We There Yet?”, which Brian Levant directed, and which starred Aleisha Allen, Nia Long and Ice Cube. It follows womanizer Nick who’s offered to take a recently divorced woman’s children on a road trip, and the film won one of its nine award nominations.

Philip’s today quite active in the film industry, and is currently working on multiple upcoming projects.

Education and early life

Philip was raised in New Orleans by his mother Kristin and father Kenny Bolden; some sources mistakenly claim that his parents’ names are Lisa and Philip Sr, as well as that he has two sisters Lindsey and Lauren. Philip hasn’t talked about his parents in public because he respects his privacy, but it’s believed that his father’s the owner of his own small business and that his mother’s a housewife.

One can say that he was thrown into the film industry, as Philip was only four when he made his debut movie appearance, playing Roland in the 1999 action fantasy comedy “Mystery Men”, directed by Kinka Usher, and which starred Ben Stiller, William H. Macy and Janeane Garofalo. It follows a group of amateur superheroes as they’re trying to prevent a supervillain from destroying an entire city, and the film was nominated for three awards; Philip’s been active in the film industry ever since.

He went on to appear in an episode or two of the comedy “The Hughleys”, the family comedy “Malcolm in the Middle” and the crime action “CSI: Miami”, and in 2001 and 2002, Philip portrayed Devon in three episodes of the family comedy “My Wife and Kids”, created by Damon Wayans, who also starred in it, alongside George Gore II and Tisha Campbell. It follows the lives of Michael Kyle, his wife Janet and their three children, the series aired from 2000 through 2005 and won 11 of its 47 award nominations.

Philip’s appeared in only a couple of TV series since his decade-long break from acting, with his three most recent roles having been in the 2019 episode “Death Moves Pretty Fast” of the crime comedy “iZombie”, the 2020 episode “Cash Flow” of the crime action “NCIS: Los Angeles” and 12 episodes of the 2022 comedy “Millenials”.

In 2000, Philip played Son in the fantasy comedy “Little Nicky”, written and directed by Steven Brill, and which starred Adam Sandler, Harvey Keitel and Patricia Arquette. It follows the devil’s two sons who’ve escaped Hell and are wreaking havoc on Earth, while the devil’s now sent his third son, mild-mannered Nicky to bring his brothers back home; the film won one of its 13 award nominations.

A couple of Philip’s following roles were in the 2001 science fiction comedy “The Animal”, the 2001 music video “Macy Gray Feat. Erykah Badu: Sweet Baby” and the 2002 drama “Play’d: A Hip Hop Story”. In 2004, he played Mack Jr. in the family comedy “Johnson Family Vacation”, directed by Christopher Erskin, and which starred Cedric The Entertainer, Shad Moss and Shannon Elizabeth. It follows a family of misfits as they’ve embarked on a road trip, and the film was nominated for three awards.

Some of Philip’s final roles prior to his long break from acting were in the 2006 family comedy “How to Eat Fried Worms”, and in 2007 the family comedy “Are We Done Yet?” and the animated family adventure “Fly Me to the Moon 3D” (voice role).

He made his return in the 2016 short drama “18 Latimer Road”, and this also remains his most recent film role.

Philip made a guest appearance in a 2005 episode of the talk-show “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson”.

Philip’s won three awards: a 2007 Young Artist Award for Best Young Ensemble in a Feature Film, for his and his colleagues’ performance in “How to Eat Fried Worms”, and two Indie Series Awards in 2023 for Best Supporting Actor – Comedy and Best Ensemble – Comedy, both for “Millennials”.

He was also nominated for a 2006 Young Artist Award for Best Performance in a Feature Film, for “Are We There Yet?”

Back in 2006 and 2007, he was in a relationship with Aliesha Allen, an American actress whom he met on the set of the 2005 movie “Are We There Yet?” Aliesha has 20 acting credits and is probably still known best for playing one of the main characters Alicia in the evergreen 2003 musical comedy movie “School of Rock”, which won eight of its 31 award nominations. Philip and Aliesha could had been seen attending various red carpet events together prior to breaking up for unknown reasons in the second half of 2007.
