Irene Choi is an American TV and film actress, who is possibly best known for her appearance in the Netflix TV series “Insatiable.” She has over 50 acting credits to her name, and some of her most notable film appearances have been in, “The Outdoorsman” and “Fifty Shades of Black.”

Irene Choi hails from Los Angeles, California, and was born under the Scorpio zodiac sign on 15 November 1992, which makes her 31 years old as of 2023. She hasn’t disclosed the names of her parents, but whom she often features on her social media accounts, and has a brother, whose name also remains unknown. She loved playing musical instruments when she was a child, especially the violin. She went on to appear in single episodes of various series, and in 2011, she was selected to portray Donna in two episodes of the comedy-drama “Parenthood.” In the same year, she landed the role of Annie Kim in the TV series “Community,” in which she appeared in three episodes in her four-year stint. In the early 2010s, Choi appeared in single episodes of several TV series including the sitcoms “How I Met Your Mother” and “2 Broke Girls” both in 2013.

Rise to Stardom and “Insatiable”

In 2015, Choi was cast as Ellen in six episodes of the romantic comedy “Just Go with It”, having the opportunity of sharing the screen with the renowned actors Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston. In 2016, the Californian actress played Mai in the romantic comedy film, “Fifty Shades of Black”, which starred Marlon Wayans, Kali Hawk and Mike Epps, going on to appear in single episodes of various TV sitcoms and comedies, such as “Workaholics,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” and “Shameless” all in 2016. In the same year, she was seen in two episodes of the Amazon Prime Video drama “Mozart in the Jungle”, and in 2017, she played Tina Atkins in five episodes of the TV drama “Scandal: Gladiator Wanted”, also starring alongside Brent Morin, Chelsey Crisp and Sasheer Zamata in the David Haskell-directed comedy-drama film “The Outdoorsman.”

Choi landed her career-defining role of the comedic antagonist Dixie Sinclair in the first and second seasons of the Netflix comedy-drama “Insatiable.” Created by Lauren Gussis, the show revolves around the 17-years old Patty (played by Debby Ryan) who embarks on a weight loss journey by going on a low-fat liquid diet, and later exacts her revenge on her intimidators, after being bullied in high school for being overweight. Choi also shared the screen with the likes of Michael Provost, Kimmy Shields and Dallas Roberts – her stint lasted for a year (2018-2019).

Choi appeared in single episodes of the TV drama “The Good Doctor” (2019) and the TV comedy-drama “Good Girls” (2020). In 2021, she played Blaine in four episodes of the Apple TV+ drama “Truth Be Told,” which starred Octavia Spenser, Aaron Paul, and Kate Hudson, among others.

In 2015, Choi produced the short horror film “Angie + Zahra,” which was directed by Yulin Kuang , and appearing alongside Yasmine Al-Bustami and Ryan Bailey.
