Who is Julia Benson?
Julia Benson (nee Anderson) was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada, on 29 June 1979, so under the zodiac sign of Cancer and holds Canadian nationality. She is best known for her acting career, especially for her role in the “Stargate Universe” TV series.
Early life and education
Julia doesn’t talk about her parents so there is nothing known about them, but she has five siblings – four sisters and a brother. She was very interested in dance when she was a child and she took ballet, tap and jazz classes when she was only six. She attended the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, and graduated with a bachelor’s in theatre and psychology in 2001 – she then improved her acting skills at Atlantic Theater Company located in New York.
Julia landed her first role in the TV series entitled “Tru Calling” in 2003, playing Tara in the episode “Past Tense”, while her first movie appearance was in the short film called “Crazy Late” which didn’t bring her any fame, but her next movie did – “Road to Victory” shot in 2007. in which she played a stripper who falls in love with an injured football player who cannot sexually perform. She had to take lessons in strip dancing from a club in Vancouver in to prepare for the role.
Julia got the role for which she is most famous back in 2009, in the “Stargate Universe” TV series playing 2nd Lieutenant Vanessa James, appearing in both seasons of the show in a total of 36 episodes until 2011 – her performance got her a Leo Award for the Best Supporting Performance by a Female in a Dramatic Series in 2010.
Julia is still very active and up to this day she appeared in many TV series, including “Mr. Young”, in 12 episodes of “Cedar Cove”, “Harper’s Island” and “SGU Stargate Universe Kino”. Some of the movies in which she’s appeared as well include “Robin, Chuck and Shirley”, “Everything’s Coming Up Rosie” and “Dead Rising: Watchtower”. Other than being an actress, Julia is also a certified aerobics instructor and fitness enthusiast.
Personal life and likes
There are no rumors or controversies regarding Julia’s love life – she married her husband Peter Benson on 8 August 2009 after four years of dating, and they have one child together born in 2013. Peter is also in the movie industry, and a winner of a Canadian Comedy Award for Multimedia for Best Writing in a Feature Nominations and Best Direction in a Feature. He’s also appeared in movies such as “Mech-X4”, “A Bundle of Trouble: An Aurora Teagarden Mystery” and “Hell on Wheels” TV series. He still appears in many commercials too, and people tend to recognize him in the streets a lot more than Julia. The couple started a production company shortly after they married; their first film was released in 2014 through Anchor Bay, while their second film was the romantic comedy “What an Idiot”, about a man who does something stupid for love – Peter and Julia are both starring in this movie.
Julia loves spending time outdoors, and goes hiking with her Labrador dog, but also lifts weights and does yoga. She advises everyone to exercise and be active while the easiest way to do something that you love – she says that one should maintain balance in all aspects of life and that you have to bear in mind that your quality of life is going to improve if you stay active. She admits that she prefers to play roles of strong women rather than of damsels in distress. Her favorite shows are in the science fiction genre – “Firefly” and “Fringe”.
During an interview with the “Pop Culture Principle” Julia advised all new actors to stay a part of the movie industry only if they really love acting – if they can picture themselves doing anything else in the world, then they should do that. She claimed that the life of an actor ‘is a very tough life, with many ups and down.’ She also advises people to build communities, as you are not competing against other people, and you need each other in order to make it out there.

Julia is currently 29 years old, has long black hair, brown eyes, is 5ft 7ins (1.7m) tall and weighs around 130lbs (59kg). Her vital statistics are 38-25-35, and some rumors say that she has breast implants, but these are not confirmed.
