Who is Anna Cramling?
Swedish-Spanish professional chess player, social media personality and YouTuber Anna Yolanda Cramling Bellon, was born under the zodiac sign Taurus on 30 April 2002, in Malaga, Spain. She’s today probably known best for her presence on the internet, including for her YouTube and Twitch channels, while she’s also known for her various chess achievements, as she’s a Woman FIDE Master, and had its peak FIDE rating of 2175 back in 2018. Anna’s entered two European Team Chess Championships as a representative of Sweden, as well as two Chess Olympiads in 2016 and 2022.
Education and early life
Anna was raised in Malaga by her father Juan Manuel Bellon Lopez who’s a Swedish-Spanish FIDE Grandmaster, and Swedish mother Pia Ann Rosa-Della Cramling, who was the fifth Woman FIDE Grandmaster; Anna’s an only child.
She was only three years old when she began playing chess, and her parents often took her with them when they attended their competitions. The family moved to Sweden when Anna was 11, and it was in 2014 that she began playing for Sweden instead of Spain; Anna’s father switched to playing for Sweden in 2017.
Anna studied at Kungsholmens Gymnasium/Stockholms Musikgymnasium, from which she matriculated in 2020; it remains unknown whether or not she’s attended college.
Career
Anna was 10 when she earned her first FIDE rating (1519) after competing at the Gibraltar Chess Festival, earning her rating by defeating one of her four rated opponents, British professional chess player Raymond Kearsley, whose rating was 1772 at that time. The following year (2014) saw Anna win the same competition in the Women’s Amateur A category, and her rating rose to 1600.
Over the course of two months in 2015, Anna was able to raise her rating above 1900, while she reached 2000 in June 2016. She went on to represent Sweden in Baku, Azerbaijan at the 2016 Chess Olympiad – the country finished 23rd amongst 134.
Anna became a Woman FIDE Master in 2018, the same year that she reached the rating of 2175, however, she dropped below 2000 by the end of the year. She was able to hit 2164 in October 2019 but has since seldom competed because of the outbreak of the coronavirus.
YouTube channel
Anna’s quite active on various social media networks, and close to 650,000 people are today subscribed to her self-titled YouTube channel, which she launched on 16 February 2020; all of Anna’s 528 videos combined have been watched over 170 million times. Nearly all of her content is about chess, featuring her playing against various people, both professional and amateur, and we’re about to cover Anna’s three most viewed videos as these have contributed to her internet popularity.
Anna’s #1 video “I Played Magnus Carlsen” has been watched over 11 million times since 2 July 2022, and features her playing against the current world chess champion Magnus Carlsen (and losing).
Her second most popular video “My Grandmaster Mom Played Chess Hustlers” has been viewed nearly 10 million times since 10 May 2023 and depicts her mother playing against a street hustler in New York City.
Anna’s #3 video “I TROLLED This Chess Hustler Into Believing I Was an Amateur” has been watched close to five million times since 26 May 2022 and shows Anna playing against a street hustler, without telling him that she’s a professional.
Anna’s also quite popular on Twitch, as she’s today followed by over 360,000 people, making her the owner of #1,756 most followed channel on the network (#691 English language channel). She’s streamed for over 4,000 hours (166 days), mostly while playing chess; Anna’s highest recorded number of concurrent viewers was 16,832 on 2 January 2023.
Anna’s followed by close to 200,000 people on Instagram, and has posted over 100 pictures and videos onto the network, with most showing her during her everyday life, whether she’s playing chess, travelling around the world, or showing off her outfits.
She’s been active on Twitter since February 2020, and has posted nearly 2,000 times, while she’s today followed by over 100,000 people; most of Anna’s tweets are chess-related.
She also has a Facebook page, and close to 5,000 people are following her on the network today, while her most recent update was on 8 October 2015.

Most of Anna’s fans believe that she’s currently focused on her career and isn’t pursuing love, while there are also those who think that she’s perhaps in a relationship but prefers to keep her boyfriend away from the media’s attention; none of this has been addressed by Anna.
There are also some who claim that the popular chess player and streamer is perhaps lesbian, but this hasn’t been confirmed either.
