Who is Erica Dickerson?

American actress, producer and model Erica Dickerson was born under the zodiac sign Scorpio on 25 October 1987, in Los Angeles, California USA. She has 13 acting credits, and is perhaps known best for playing Leah in the 2015 short crime movie “The Union”, which starred Ashley Brown, Marlies Bauer Bell and Stan J. Adams, and was written and directed by Jordan Riggs; it follows the members of one of the oldest unions in New York City.

Erica hasn’t had any acting credits since 2018, but hasn’t officially retired from the film industry.

Education and early life

Erica was raised alongside her three younger siblings in Los Angeles, by their father Eric Dickerson who’s a famous former professional American Football running back, and who spent 11 seasons competing in the National Football League (NFL), and mother Rea Ann Silva who’s a make-up artist and businesswoman.

Erica was nine when she appeared in a commercial for Macy’s and Levi’s, and was 10 when she made her debut TV series appearance, playing Young Renee in the 1998 episode “Being There” of the comedy “Ally McBeal”, created by David E. Kelley, and which starred Calista Flockhart, Greg Germann and Jane Krakowski. It follows the life of attorney Ally and the series won 43 of the 158 awards for which it was nominated.

Erica hasn’t spoken about her education; most of her fans believe that she was homeschooled so that she could focus on her acting and modelling career, and that she passed her GED tests in 2006.

Roles in movies

Erica’s debut film role was playing Member of Chorus of Townspeople in the 2003 musical family adventure “The Trio of Minuet”, which starred Daniel White, Nadia Robinson and Stephanie Harris, and was written by Paul Goyette and David Aryeh Sasso. It follows the lives of three children from the small town of Minuet.

The year 2007 saw Erica portray Cool Kid #1 in the comedy “Uncle P”, which starred Mercedeh Allen, Romeo Miller and Master P, and was also written and directed by Master P; it follows a multi-millionaire rapper who’s become the guardian of his sister’s three children.

Erica went on to play Jukebox Girl, one of the main characters in the 2011 short crime comedy “Crybabies”, which also starred Courtney Kolloff and Erica Bardin, and was directed by Kanin Guntzelman; it follows two mafia hitmen as they’re having an argument.

Erica’s only other film role has been playing Angela in the 2013 drama “Let the Church Say Amen”, which starred Lela Rochon, Naturi Naughton and Steve Harris, and was directed by Regina King. Set in Washington, D. C, the movie tells the story of a church which has become the symbol of a local community; it was nominated for two awards.

Roles in TV series

In 2004, Erica played Bushmont Opponent in the episode “Smart Girl” of the family comedy “Drake & Josh”, which starred Miranda Cosgrove, Josh Peck and Drake Bell, and was created by Dan Schneider. It follows a popular musician and an awkward geek who’ve become stepbrothers, the series aired from 2004 through 2007, and won 13 of its 20 award nominations.

Erica went on to play Allison in the 2011 episode “Help Wanted” of the popular comedy “Traffic Light”, which starred Kris Marshall, Nelson Franklin and David Denman, and was created by Adir Miller and Bob Fisher. It follows the lives of three longtime friends; the series was nominated for only a single award.

In 2013, Erica played one of the main characters Ya-Ya in all six episodes of the musical “The Hustle”, which also starred Y’lan Noel and London Brown, and follows the lives of two friends who’ve founded the rap duo Brooklyn’s Finest; the series won an Image Award for Outstanding Directing in a Comedy Series.

Erica could then have been seen appearing in the 2013 episode “Frauditions” of the comedy “Real Husbands of Hollywood”, the 2014 episode “The Inception” of the comedy “Downtown Girls”, and the 2016 episode “The Last Shot at a Second Chance” of the crime mystery “Bones”.

Her only other TV series role has been playing Deniese in the 2018 episode “Obsessed-Like” of the critically acclaimed romantic comedy “Insecure”, which starred Jay Ellis, Yvonne Orji and Issa Rae, and was created by Larry Wilmore. It follows the life of a modern-day African-American woman, the series aired from 2016 through 2021, and won 44 of its 186 award nominations.

Erica’s made a guest appearance in talk-shows “Tamron Hall” and “Today”.

Love life and relationships

Erica prefers to keep the details of her love life to herself, but it’s widely known that she was once engaged to American rapper Fredrick Jamel Tipton aka Freddie Gibbs; he’s released a couple of studio albums, while his 2020 album “Alfredo” was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Rap Album.

Erica and Freddie were together for a couple of years in the first half of the 2010s, and she gave birth to their daughter in 2015, while Freddie also has a son from a previous relationship. It was widely believed that the two would eventually marry, however, they split in 2016 for unknown reasons.

There are no other men whom Erica’s perhaps been with, that we know about; she seems to be unattached as of November 2023, hasn’t married and has a daughter with former fiancé Freddie Gibbs.
