Who is Liberty Phoenix?

American former actress and businesswoman Liberty Mariposa Phoenix (nee Bottom) was born under the zodiac sign Cancer on 5 July 1976, in Caracas, Venezuela. She’s perhaps known best for being a younger sister of famous American actor Joaquin Rafael Phoenix.

Education and early life

Liberty was raised alongside her brothers River and Joaquin, and sisters Rain and Summer in New York State, USA by their mother Arlyn Sharon ‘Heart’ Bottom (nee Dunetz) who’s an American social activist, and father John Lee Bottom who was originally from California and was the owner of his own gardening company; it’s widely believed that Liberty was born in Caracas only because her parents were vacationing there. Liberty’s brother River was a popular actor and singer, who died aged 23 on 31 October 1993 from a drug overdose.

Liberty grew up being passionate about acting, and was only six when she made her debut TV series appearance, playing Christy in the 1982 episode “Christmas Song” of the adventure comedy “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers”, which starred Peter Horton, Roger Wilson and Richard Dean Anderson, and follows the lives of seven brothers; the series won one of its four award nominations. Liberty has only one other acting credit: she was 10 when she played 1st Brownie in the 1986 drama movie “Kate’s Secret”, which starred Georgann Johnson, Ben Masters and Meredith Baxter, and was directed by Arthur Allan Seidelman; it follows the life of a successful attorney who’s married to a beautiful woman.

Liberty studied at local high school, from which she matriculated in 1994; because she’s yet to talk about her further education, it’s widely believed that she hasn’t attended college.

Liberty’s career

In 1997, Liberty and her sisters Sumer and Rain founded the punk band The Causey Way, but they performed for only four years as they disbanded in 2001.

Liberty went on to teach at the Florida School of Traditional Midwifery, and the year 2005 saw her launch her own line of skirts and dresses, which she then sold to the Manhattan boutique Some Odd Rubies.

Since March 2007, Liberty’s been living in Gainesville, Florida and running her own eco-friendly Indigo Green Store.

Liberty rarely speaks about her love life but we know that she’s married twice. Her first husband was Ernesto Asch; the two married on 11 August 1996, but their divorce was finalized on 24 September 2003. Liberty’s today married to her second husband Andy Lord, and they have two children together; they haven’t disclosed the date of their wedding but it’s believed that they’ve been together for nearly 10 years now.
