Who is Ellen Hamilton Latzen?
Ellen was born in the USA on 26 July 1980 – her zodiac sign is Leo, and she holds American nationality. She’s a former actress with eight credits to her name, while she’s perhaps still known best for her portrayal of Ellen Gallagher in the 1987 thriller movie “Fatal Attraction”. It was directed by Adrian Lyne, starred Michael Douglas, Glenn Close and Anne Archer, and follows a married man who has had an affair, while his lover has now begun stalking him and his family; the movie won seven of the 35 awards for which it was nominated, including six Oscar nominations.
Early life and education
Ellen was raised in the US alongside her sisters Amy and Elena, by their mother Anne Hamilton who was a web designer, and their father Bob Latzen who was a salesman; after their parents divorced, the girls lived with their mother.
Ellen was six when a casting call was announced for “Fatal Attraction”, she auditioned and was chosen amongst hundreds of girls, while she then went on to act for the following 10 years. She studied at Putney School, and was interested in a number of activities during her four years there, including acting with the school’s drama club and playing various sports.
Ellen matriculated in 1999, and then enrolled at California College of the Arts, from which she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2003.
Roles in TV series
Ellen made her debut TV series appearance in the 1987 episode “Miracle in Columbus” of the family comedy drama “Family Ties”, created by Gary David Goldberg, and which starred Michael J. Fox, Michael Gross and Meredith Baxter. It follows the lives of former hippies Steven and Elyse Keaton, and their children Alex, Mallory, Jennifer, and Andrew; the series aired from 1982 to 1989 and won 28 awards, including five Primetime Emmys, while it was nominated for 43 other awards.
The year 1989 saw her play Mindy Morrison in the episode “Lullaby of Darkness” of the action crime drama “The Equalizer”, created by Richard Lindheim and Michael Sloan, and which starred Edward Woodward, Robert Lansing and Keith Szarabajka.
The series follows the life of a former intelligence agent who has become a private detective, and won two of the 20 awards for which it was nominate which included seven Primetime Emmys.
Ellen’s only other TV series role remains her portrayal of Casey Walsh in the 1990 episode “Over the Limit” of the adventure comedy “ABC Afterschool Specials”, created by Guy Fraumeni, and which starred Lance Kerwin and Samaria Graham. Each episode is a story in itself, and the series won 91 awards, including a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Achievement in Children’s Programming – Informational/Factual, and was nominated for 158 other awards.
Roles in movies
Ellen played Ada in the 1988 comedy drama “Mr. North”, directed by Danny Huston, and which starred Anthony Edwards, Robert Mitchum and Lauren Bacall.
It follows Mr. North who has just arrived in Rhode Island, but where people have already begun talking about him having healing powers.
Ellen played Ruby Sue in the critically acclaimed 1989 comedy “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation”, directed by Jeremiah S. Chechik, and which starred Chevy Chase, Beverly D’Angelo and Juliette Lewis. It follows the Griswold family and their Christmas plans which have gone completely awry.
Ellen starred as Carol in the 1995 short drama “Alkali, Iowa”, and her final role in the film industry was her portrayal of a supporting character in the 1997 drama “Boys Life 2”. It was written and directed by Mark Christopher and Tom DeCerchio, starred Michael Saucedo and Justin Urich, and the movie comprises four short films which are about gay boys.
Life after acting
Ellen focused on her education after leaving the film industry, and worked a couple of jobs for two years following graduation.
In February 2005, she joined Marriott International as their diary and sales co-ordinator, a job which she held for nearly two years. Between February 2007 and November 2008, she worked at Trafalgar Tours as group sales manager and operations specialist, and then spent a year working at Ace Hotel as their group sales and catering co-ordinator.
Between October 2009 and August 2011, Ellen worked at San Francisco Bay Guardian as operations manager and account executive, and then spent over a year working at MogoTix as their director of operations. From December 2013 to May 2014, she was employed at TrueAccord as customer engagement manager, and Ellen then spent two months at Noozcard Inc. as office manager.
In October 2015, she began working at Getty Images as freelance photo editor, and in July 2017 joined Otus Supply as their event director. In the summer of 2019, Ellen worked at Astrohaus as business development and partnerships director, and from November 2019 to July 2020, she was the manager of Campbell’s Place.

The two have uploaded many pictures which feature them together onto their Instagram accounts, and have made their fans wonder about why they haven’t exchanged vows.
Some of Ellen’s fans believe that the two may not be in as stable a relationship as might appear on the internet, while some have claimed that they’ve broken-up a couple of times, however, this hasn’t been confirmed nor addressed by the two.

Ellen enjoys watching movies late at night – her favorite actor and actress are Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson, while a couple of her favorite films include “Lost in Translation”, “Groundhog Day” and “Ghostbusters”.
