The Net Worth of Sam Bailey

How rich is Sam Bailey? As of late-2018, sources inform us of a net worth that is over $1 million, earned through a successful career in the music industry. Since winning the competition she’s released numerous singles, which certainly helped in increasing her wealth. As she continues her career, it is expected that her wealth will also continue to increase.

Early Life, Education, and Career Beginnings

Sam grew up in Sidcup, London with her parents and two brothers, as her family moved there when she was young. She enrolled at Cleeve Park School and during her time there started to develop a strong interest in music. However, she never really thought of it as a career path, instead opting to enroll at Bexley College after matriculating from high school. After completing her studies, she then worked as a prison officer at Market Harborough’s HM Prison Gartree.

She aspired to find success in music during this time, and wanted to quit her job as soon as she found a good opportunity in the industry. One of her first musical endeavors was the ska duo Girls Next Door, with Julie Nunney, and they recorded a song together, however, they were unsuccessful, but she then got the idea of auditioning for the series “The X Factor”, in hopes of getting a chance on the big stage.

The X Factor

In 2013, Bailey auditioned for “The X Factor” performing the song “Listen” by Beyoncé, for which she received a standing ovation. Her voice was praised ,and she continued to wow the audience and especially the judges, being mentored by Sharon Osbourne to reach the live shows alongside Shelley Smith and Lorna Simpson. Her fellow over-25 contestants were both eliminated during the first two weeks of the competition, but she was able to reach the finals alongside Luke Friend and Nicholas McDonald. She performed the song “Skyscraper” during the final and received more than a million votes making her the winner of the competition – statistics indicated that she received seven votes out of every ten. Her win allowed her to get a recording contract with Syco Music, and the opportunity to perform with Beyoncé and support her during her The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour.

She then announced that she was leaving her job as a prison officer to fully embrace her music career. She got a bit of controversy for stating that she never had any singing experience, when actually she had been performing for the past 20 years. However, she defended herself and said that she was honest, stating that even after all those years performing, she never made it big.

Post X-Factor Career

With the success of her version of “Skyscraper”, Sam started working on an album right away, called “The Power of Love” and based on the Jennifer Rush song she covered for the album. It was released in 2014, with both original and cover songs; she performed a duet with Michael Bolton of “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough”, and also “And I Am Telling You” with Nicole Scherzinger.

Her album would reach the top spot of the UK Albums Chart, the first “X Factor” winner since 2008 to score a number one album, when it was Alexandra Burke. In 2015, she announced that she had parted from Syco Music. In a later interview, she said that she didn’t feel badly about the release from Syco, mentioning that she didn’t have other qualities required for current musical superstars, and it was just the way the industry works, and that the release allowed her to pursue other projects, such as musicals.

Recent Projects

Bailey’s next big project was to be in the musical “Chicago” alongside John Partridge. She then moved to the United States to work on a new album which was entitled “Sing My Heart Out” – her album reached the Top 40 on the UK chart during its first week. She toured for most of 2017, and would then foray further into theatrical productions, being cast in a role for “Fat Friends – The Musical” based on the television show of the same name. She also joined the music charity project called “Stronger Together”, which supports LGBTI people, before then starting work on the musical tour of “Vampires Rock”.

Personal Life

For her personal life, it is known that Sam is married to Craig Pearson – the two met in 2002, and married a year later. The two now live in Leicester, England with their three children and a dog. Her third child’s godmother is former mentor Sharon Osbourne and the birth caused a bit of complication as she suffered Bell’s palsy which was later treated. Aside from her family, she is a big fan of sports, particularly her local football club, Leicester City. She has also released an autobiography entitled “Daring to Dream”, for which she signed a deal to help publish.
