Christopher Heyerdahl was born on the 18th September 1963, in British Columbia, Canada to a Scottish mother and a Norwegian father who emigrated from Norway in the 1950s. His father’s cousin is Thor Heyerdahl, the famous Norwegian adventurer and ethnographer, best known for his Kon-Tiki hand-built raft expedition in 1947. Although his father moved to Canada, Christopher went to Norway to attend the University of Oslo, from which he graduated, and so he speaks Norwegian fluently.
Career Beginnings and the 90s
Heyerdahl made his on-screen debut in an episode of “21 Jump Street” in 1987, but his next role came six years later when he appeared as Leonid/Nosferatu in two episodes of “Are You Afraid of the Dark?” (1990-2000). His first feature movie was “Warriors” in 1994, and that same year he played alongside Christopher Lambert in “Highlander III: The Sorcerer”. In 1997, Christopher worked with the director Paul Schrader on the Oscar-winning mystery “Affliction” starring Nick Nolte, Sissy Spacek and James Coburn, and then portrayed Charles Dickens in “The Ghosts of Dickens’ Past” (1998), and Howard P. After a few independent and low-budget films, Heyerdahl played the role of Geoffroy St-Hilaire in the Primetime Emmy Award-winning biography “Napoléon” (2002) starring Christian Clavier, Isabella Rossellini, John Malkovich and Gérard Depardieu.
