Who is Emily Bett Rickards?

Emily Bett Rickards was born on 24 July 1991, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, and is an actress, best known for her breakthrough role in the television series “Arrow”, in which she plays Felicity Smoak; she was initially a guest star before returning as a main character of the show. She’s also played the character in other shows of the Arrow, including “The Flash”, “Supergirl”, “Legends of Tomorrow” and “Vixen”.

Emily Bett grew up in British Columbia, where her mother worked as a dream psychotherapist. At a young age she developed a strong interest in performing, especially dance and musical theatre. She continued to develop her skills in hopes of one day pursuing a career in acting.

After matriculating from high school, she enrolled at the Vancouver Film School, where she completed the Acting Essentials Program. She then attended an open call audition which led her to attract an agent, and continued to further her studies by enrolling at the Alida Vocal Studio, located in Vancouver. Breakthrough

Rickards got her breakthrough role in the series “Arrow” – it was originally intended as a one episode role, but positive reactions of her performance from producers and co-star Stephen Amell led it to become a recurring role, so successfully that she was promoted as a series regular from the second season onwards. The show is a superhero series based on the DC Comics character “Green Arrow”, and stars Amell as the titular character. The show introduced a new take on the character, and gained generally positive reviews.

The success of “Arrow” has led to numerous spin-offs, including “The Flash” which also featured a television version of the popular DC comics’ character of the same name. Other shows include “Vixen”, which is an animated spin-off and “Legends of Tomorrow” which featured other characters of the Arrowverse; Rickards has reprised her role as a guest in all of the spin-off shows. She also worked on the web-based promotional tie-in series entitled “Blood Rush”, which featured Roy Harper played by Colton Haynes, after which she was ranked in 15th spot on a list of 50 Favorite Female Characters in a poll conducted by “The Hollywood Reporter”.

Other Projects

In 2012, Emily Bett was cast in the television movie entitled “Romeo Killer: The Chris Porco Story”; released the following year, the story was about the murder/attempted murder of Peter and Joan Porco. In 2014, she then appeared in the sequel to “Cowgirls ‘n Angels” entitled “Cowgirls ‘n Angels: Dakota’s Summer”, playing the sister of the film’s protagonist. Recent Work

In 2017, Rickards was given a starring role in the film “Funny Story”, which was filmed over just 15 days. She received a lot of praise for her performance, especially for her ability to speak volumes without saying a word. The film won a Stolman Audience Award for Best American Indie during the 2018 Sonoma International Film Festival, and also an Audience Award at the Vero Beach Wine and Film Festival, and numerous awards in other festivals where it was aired. She was then cast as the lead in a production of “Reborning” by the Reality Curve Theatre Group in Vancouver; the play was well received, and many critics praised her performance and her ability to effectively carry the show.

One of her latest projects is an audiobook entitled “The Wicked Ones”, which was originally published as a companion book to “The Mortal Instruments” series, with the collective name “Ghosts of the Shadow Market”.

For her personal life, it is known that Emily Bett is single though there have been numerous rumors regarding her relationships and sexuality. In 2013, she was linked to “Arrow” co-star Colton Haynes but neither of them confirmed the relationship. Eventually, it was revealed that Haynes was gay and married celebrity florist Jeff Leatham. In 2018, another co-star Aisha Taylor posted a photo of her and Emily kissing leading to speculation that the two are in a relationship, as Taylor has mentioned in an interview that she is bisexual. However, the two have declined any further statements, saying only that they have been close friends for some time. Rumours of a relationship with Stephen Amell were similarly wide of the mark – Stephen is married to Cassandra Jean.
