Born Kimberleigh Zolciak on the 19th May 1978, in Pensacola, Florida USA, she is the daughter of Karen and Joseph; her parents were involved in the USA military which resulted in constant moving throughout Kim’s childhood. Eventually the family eventually found their permanent place in Windsor Locks, Connecticut, where Kim spent most of her later childhood with her brother Michael.

Kim was raised a Roman Catholic, and attended East Catholic High School, from which she matriculated in 1996. During her high school years, Kim was in a romantic relationship with a police sergeant who held her as a witness in one of his criminal investigations; their affair was later discovered and the unnamed sergeant was dismissed from his post, although the decision was later revised to a 45-day suspension without pay.
