Who is Miya Horcher?

American actress and social media personality Miya Horcher was born under the zodiac sign Leo on 16 August 1999, in Alabama, USA. She has 11 acting credits, and is perhaps known best for playing the lead character Cassandra Evans in the 2020 family comedy movie “Switched”, which also starred Denise Richards and Madeleine Byrne, and was written and directed by John K. D. Graham. It follows Cassandra Evans who’s switched bodies with her bully Katie Sharp, and the movie won two awards.

Education and early life

Miya was raised in Alabama alongside her sisters Madison and Madalyn, who are also successful actresses, by their mother Joslin and father William Horcher; not many details have been shared about Miya’s parents because she respects their privacy. Her sister Madison’s appeared in nine movies and TV series, and Madalyn in 28.

Miya fell in love with acting at a very early age, and appeared in a number of plays performed at her local elementary school. She was 15 when she made her debut TV series appearance, playing Janie in the 2014 episode “The Smell” of the family comedy “The Middle”, which starred Charlie McDermott and Patricia Heaton, and was created by DeAnn Heline and Eileen Heisler. Miya matriculated from a local high school in Alabama in 2017, and then remained focused on acting rather than pursuing a college degree.

Roles in TV series

The year 2015 saw Miya play Becky in the episode “Tex Fest” of the family sports comedy “Bella and the Bulldogs”, which starred Coy Stewart and Brec Bassinger, and was created by Gabriel Alejandro Garza and Jonathan Butler. It follows head cheerleader Bella who’s become the new quarterback for her school’s football team the Bulldogs, and the series won four of its 10 award nominations.

Miya went on to play Claire O’Malley in the 2016 episode “Stuck” of the family comedy “Walk the Prank”, a supporting character in the 2017 episode “Minimum Wage” of the family musical comedy “School of Rock” and Sarah in the 2019 episode “The Shake Up” of the crime action “The Rookie”.

In 2022, she played James’ Sister in the episode “Legacy” of the medical drama “Grey’s Anatomy”, which stars Ellen Pompeo, James Pickens Jr. and Chandra Wilson, and which Shonda Rhimes created. It follows a group of people as they’re working at a hospital, the series has been airing since 2005 and has won 87 of the 334 awards for which it’s been nominated.

Miya’s only other TV series role has been playing Jaymee in 13 episodes of the popular sports drama “All American”, which was created by April Blair in 2018, and today stars Daniel Ezra and Samantha Logan. It follows the transfer of a Football Player from South Central to Beverly Hills High School, the series has won one of the nine awards for which it’s been nominated.

Roles in movies

Miya’s appeared in only three movies, including the aforementioned “Switched”. Her debut was playing Skyler in the 2015 family comedy “Future Shock”, which starred Meg Donnelly, Sanai Victoria and Sedona James, and follows two brothers who’ve been accidentally teleported into the future together with their mother. The film attracted little attention.

Miya’s only other movie role has been playing Toni in the 2020 thriller “Killer in Suburbia”, which starred Chris McKenna, Morgan Obenreder and Boti Bliss, and was directed by Danny Buday. It follows a single mother whose epileptic teenage daughter’s been kidnapped by sex traffickers.

Other credits

Miya voiced several characters in the critically acclaimed 2015 video game “Fallout 4”, including Meg, Alice Thompson and Marlene Glass; it follows the sole survivor of Vault 111 in post-apocalyptic Boston, Massachusetts, as he’s searching for his kidnapped son. The video game won six of its 37 award nominations, including a 2016 BAFTA Games Award.

Miya featured in a 2020 episode of the show “WEAU News”.

Miya shies away from sharing the details of her love life with her fans, and this has led some of them to start rumors on the internet, most of which concern her sexual orientation and past and present relationships.

Some of Miya’s fans believe her to be lesbian, claiming this to be the reason why the popular actress doesn’t speak about the boys whom she’s perhaps been with; one fan claimed on Reddit.com to have seen Miya spending time with her girlfriend in public, however, the post has since been deleted, and Miya hasn’t addressed the rumors.
