Early life and education

Kedar Williams-Stirling was born on 14 December 1994 in Plaistow, East London England, but relocated to South London in childhood, where his mother raised him; Kedar considers her his biggest inspiration.

Early education, source of career

Kedar’s earliest acting foray was roles in primary school plays. In Year 6, when he was 10 or 11, Kedar’s mother motivated him to audition for Sylvia Young Theatre School in Marble Arch, London. He then later studied acting at Barbara Speake Stage School in East Acton, London, and The Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts in Woking, Surrey, England. Kedar loved playing tennis and soccer in school, and told Red Carpet News TV that watching the “Even Stevens” television comedy series made him want to become an actor.

Career

Kedar made his acting debut as Adie Mazvidza in an episode of “The Bill” television series aired on 4 October 2007. His next role on TV was the following year; he played Levi Harris in two episodes of the “Silent Witness” series. Kedar only appeared in an episode of the “Doctors” series in 2009, before taking a three-year break from appearing on TV.

He joined the cast of “Wolfblood” in the second episode of the first season on 30 September 2012, and played Thomas “Tom” Okanawe until season three, which aired in 2014. He was the best friend of the protagonist, Maddy Smith, portrayed by Aimée Kelly, and among the fan-favorite characters. Unfortunately, the series’ producers announced that new characters would debut in the fourth season, partially because Aimée quit to focus on her education. Consequently, original characters, Thomas included, were recast or written out of the show to fit the new storyline.

Starring in “Sex Education”

In May 2018, news portals announced that many actors, including Kedar, would star in the upcoming Netflix series entitled “Sex Education.” Kedar joined the ensemble in the debut episode as Jackson Marchetti, whom he portrayed alongside Asa Butterfield, Gillian Anderson, Emma Mackey, and Connor Swindells, who played Otis Milburn, Jean Milburn, Maeve Wiley, and Adam Groff, respectively.

Jackson was a confident swimming champion who had to meet high expectations as the head boy at the fictional Moordale Secondary School.

In the Still Watching Netflix interview, Kedar revealed that his character was supposed to have white skin, which inspired him to try harder during the audition. He stated that his character’s vulnerability and the series’ goal of making sex less taboo attracted him to the role. In his VODzilla.co interview, Kedar said that he suggested some clothing for his character, but mostly let the costume designers choose the outfits because he wanted to indulge in the depiction of 1980s fashion. Kedar revealed that wearing contact lenses, which altered his eye color to hazel, helped him get into the character. In his MTV UK interview in 2020, Kedar said that the way he made love in the series resembled how bonobos fornicate.

Netflix canceled the series after four seasons in September 2023, mainly because the writers felt the story was reaching its conclusion, as the characters were in college, and partially because some lead actors wanted to move on.

Movies

Kedar started acting in films in 2010, debuting as Junior in the movie entitled “Shank.” He then starred in two short films, “Drinks, Drugs and KFC” as Nathan in 2011 and “You Are Me” as Dan in 2013. Kedar portrayed Lorenzo in “Montana” a year later, and Tony in the short film “Elderflower” in 2016. He had a less notable role in “Two Graves” as Barry in 2018, but was recognized for playing a side character, Marc, in the “Changeland” movie in 2019. That was primarily because its release date was roughly six months after the first episode of “Sex Education” aired.

Plans

Kedar has not announced his goals for on-screen projects, but his devoted fans can see him on stage. According to LondonTheatre.co.uk, he was cast as Bilal in the play “Red Pitch” in September 2023. Kedar will star alongside Emeka Sesay and Francis Lovehall for seven weeks at London’s New West End Theatre, Soho Place, starting on 15 March 2024. He’s reprising his role; the play premiered in February 2022 at the Bush Theatre in West London. Furthermore, few know that Kedar submitted his “Vibrations” screenplay to Shore Scripts Screenwriting Platform in late 2023 and might develop it into a short film.

Kedar has modeled for Conscious Magazine, and has appeared in GAP and Banana Republic fashion campaigns. Moreover, he posted a few modeling shots to his Instagram page, @kedarwilliamsstirling, on which he’s accrued over 30,000 followers. However, Kedar previously stated that he considers modeling a hobby.

Dating and sexuality

Kedar is likely single, and some have suspected that he’s gay. Those suspicions started in 2019 when he told VODzilla.co that his favorite Netflix show was “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” a talent competition among drag queens, i.e., people, typically male, who dress in female clothing and wear makeup. However, in Kedar’s MTV UK interview from January 2020, he revealed that he had sex with a girl in his private life, so he’s straight or bisexual.

As of early 2014, Kedar’s estimated net worth is $500,000, primarily from salaries from “Wolfblood” and “Sex Education.”
